Bethany Elementary School Reviews

My son is in second grade this year. He has a speech issue that all of the teachers involved with him has worked at great length with him and us to overcome this issue. They have also helped us get him into the right reading programs to get him caught up. I am deeply impressed with the entire Bethany staff!

Bethany shines in the Beaverton district as great school, with wonderful parent involvement. Most of the teaching staff is well above average to outstanding in attention to the students. My only complaint is that there are not well designed differentiation programs for TAG kids. This is the area in which Bethany and the Beaverton school districts could stand some growth and change. I am not a supporter of the Investigations math program that they use in our district, however we supplement at home with good results.

Our son attended a private school for 3 years and we were very hesitant trying a public school, however Bethany exceeded our expectations. Our son's teacher is wonderful and the principal is very involved and hands-on. Most educational materials and activities are tailored to each kid's level, which is great and was a good surprise. The only thing we are disappointed about is a number of after-school activities offered (very little), however I believe it is managed by a parent organization, and obviously isn't a major part of child's education - I just take my son to other schools/clubs for after-school activities, which just makes it a bit more hassle for me.

There is a new Principal,as of last Fall('05)He is very hands on with the students. The students like him.Parent involvement is very high.Great teaching staff.

My Daughter is reading in Kindergarden (And she can add and subtract very large numbers). Need I say more? I'm so pleased with the parent involvment, & with teaching methods. I searched this web site before purchasing our home. I'm glad I did! I also love the diversity. The only downfalls are the small parking lot. I also feel that security could be better!

Two of my children attended Bethany over a period of three years while our family were on relocation. I found it to be a good school where the students were encouraged to reach their full potential. If we return to Portland we would hope to have our children attend Bethany again.

Just to set the record straight - I must add that there is a new principal - and he seems very engaged and doing a great job. My children are receiving a good education here. We are new to the area - and have experience other schools.

Receives excellent rating because very focused on teaching to benchmarks tests and accomplishes that very well. Changes meet resistance here. High parental involvement. Teachers good, but not up-to-date on current educational methods. Very conservative atmosphere educationally and socially.

Teachers are supportive and are truly working for the best interest of the kids. The Principle is NOT of the same mind, however. does NOT work with the parents and views the kids as income for the school and nothing more!!
